Gravity Payments Interface - Adding Surcharging and Online Payments

We have introduced a new interface with Gravity Payments called EmergePay. This interface allows you to add surcharges to settlements and receive payments from customers through the RIMSS Customer Portal.

To use these new features, you need to switch to the EmergePay interface. Although it is not mandatory to switch, EmergePay offers significant benefits:

  • Automatic Surcharging: Automatically apply surcharges to all credit card settlements, transferring the cost of merchant service fees from your dealership to customers who use credit cards.
  • Online Payments: Customers can log in to their accounts on the RIMSS Customer Portal and make payments on their Accounts Receivable.

While the functionality of our current and new interfaces is very similar, EmergePay provides these additional advantages to enhance your payment processing experience.

Steps to Switch from EI Server to EmergePay

  1. Check Device Compatibility:
    • Only Clover devices work with EmergePay.
    • If you have PAX devices, you'll need to purchase Clover devices.
    • More compatible devices are expected to be available within the next year.
  2. Contact Gravity Payments
    • Discuss your current account setup with them.
    • Some customers already have an EmergePay account in addition to their EI Server account.
    • If you don’t have an EmergePay account, submit documentation to Gravity Payments to set one up.
    • If you have an EmergePay account, review it with Gravity Payments to decide if you should use your existing account or set up a new one. This depends on transaction volume and fee reduction.
  3. Configure RIMSS and your Devices:
    • For existing Clover devices:
      • Coordinate with RIMSS and Gravity Payments to reconfigure the devices and RIMSS simultaneously.
    • For new Clover devices:
      • Coordinate with RIMSS to configure the credit card interface.

Considerations for EmergePay Setup:

    • If using the RIMSS Customer Portal, you can add ACH payments along with credit card payments. This requires a separate application with Gravity Payments, but they can process it at the same time as the EmergePay setup.
      • Note: ACH payments are only available through the Customer Portal, not for settling invoices in RIMSS.
    • Surcharging is optional. Confirm with Gravity Payments if you want this feature.
      • For new devices, Gravity Payments can set up surcharging before shipping.
      • For existing Clover devices, Gravity Payments can reconfigure them for surcharging or non-surcharging.
