Preventive Maintenance - Creating PM Issues and Groups
The first step to tracking Preventive Maintenance Schedules on Units is to create the Standard Service Issues for the schedules. Click here to open the document that walks you through how to create the Standard Service Issues.
There are different approaches to creating the Preventive Maintenance schedules that you can follow:
- Generic Issues - can be created for specific intervals of time. These Standard Issues can be used for a wide variety of equipment and they include a more generic description of the maintenance work. Generic issues typically do not include detailed information such as parts or misc. charges.
- Equipment Specific Issues - Standard Issues can be created for specific Makes/Models to include more detailed descriptions, parts, and misc. charges.
Most dealerships will build a combination of Generic and Equipment Specific maintenance schedules to manage their PM tracking.
Once the Standard Issues are created, you can add the PM Interval information to create the schedule.
Navigate to Service > Preventive Maintenance

Add any pre-fetch filters and fetch the list of Standard Issues. Double click on the Standard Issue you would like to set up as a Preventive Maintenance Issue.

On the Service Issue Code pop-up, select the box for Preventive Maintenance to show the scheduling options.

Add the details that pertain to this specific Preventive Maintenance issue. Click OK to save the updates.
Frequency: Initial will occur one time at a set interval, Recurring will recur at a set interval.
Measure By: Select if you will track usage by Miles or Hours on the unit.
Amt of Miles/Hours: Set the miles/hours interval for the service
Months: Add the number of months for which the service is recommended even if the miles/hours have not been reached.

Once your Preventive Maintenance Issues have been created, you can bundle them into groups to simplify adding to wholegoods. To create a PM Group, click on the Preventive Maintenance Groups tab from the main Preventive Maintenance tab. Click Add New at the top left to create a new group.

In the pop-up, add a Name and Description of the group. Filter to the issues to be included in the grid, then save. The information can be edited after the group is saved if needed.

You are now ready to begin assigning the PM Issues or Groups to wholegoods. Click here to learn how to assign the PM Issues and Groups to your wholegoods.
